Eighth Grade on Top of Reading Counts Contest
by Jessica Runnels
Each six weeks the junior high classes compete in a reading counts competition. The grade level that has accumulated the most Reading Counts points at the end of the six weeks is “crowned” the winner! Well….this past six weeks the 8th grade beat out the other two classes and won the contest! This bunch of “over-achieving” readers accumulated 2,217 points during the six weeks. WOW! The students were rewarded with a trip to Shelley Pate park. At the park, they relaxed, hung out, and enjoyed a day without work. The students had opportunities to participate in several different activities including basketball, volleyball, and kickball. Some students opted to just “hang-out” and visit with friends. The party lasted through lunchtime; and the kids were served sub sandwiches and chips. The eight grade bunch returned to school shortly after lunch to prepare for the early release and the start of the Thanksgiving holidays. Way to go eighth grade and keep up the good work!
